Staff profile: Q&A with Course Leader, Anthony
Anthony joined the University of Huddersfield - London in January, ahead of the first cohort of students, as Course Leader. Anthony’s education and past experience in international business highlights our high standard of teaching quality. We caught up with him to find out more about his background in the sector, what he enjoys about teaching Master’s students and why he is excited about his new role at the University of Huddersfield - London.
1. Tell us a bit about yourself, Anthony
After receiving my BSc in Business and my Marketing MBA in the US, I completed my PhD in International Business and Entrepreneurship in the UK. I have a background both working in a multinational global environment and an academic one, focusing on international business.
2. What’s your background in the business sector?
My past experience has included roles in banking, business strategy, commercial operations (marketing and sales) and supply chain. As well as senior management roles in several DOW and FTSE 100 multinational corporations. I’ve also been an entrepreneur in start-up/small business environments, a consultant and a past board member.
3. Why did you get into teaching?
I wanted to share both my academic and practical learnings and experiences with the future generations of business executives.
4. What is your favourite thing about teaching postgraduate students?
Their passion, their diverse backgrounds and experience they bring to the classroom.
5. What is most exciting about your new role at the University of Huddersfield – London?
It is a great honour, challenge and opportunity to be a part of this new and exciting campus in the capital. London is a vibrant and challenging place where the world meets to learn, work and play!
6. Why is it important for students to choose a degree with a focus on employability?
Ultimately, business studies is about performance. Our programme provides the tools, skills and knowledge for students to compete and be successful in the area they choose.
7. What advice would you give for students thinking of studying their Master’s degree at the University of Huddersfield – London?
It is a great place with experienced and passionate academic staff in a truly globally focused location.
